What we grow:
About the farm:
Ashby St. Ledgers is owned by the Crown Estates who acquired it in 2005. Together we have improved the farm considerably and tidied up the buildings in the village. There is also a dairy farm and shoot on the Estate, though not run by The Co-operative.
Part of the Ashby estate is Rockingham farm. We have been farming on this client owned site since 2006. The farm is home to an old WW2 site and Rockingham Castle, built by William the Conqueror nearly 1000 years ago. The castle was a royal residence for 450 years before Henry VIII granted it to the Watson family, where it has remained for another 450 years, making the castle one of the country's longest continuously occupied home.

About Joe: Currently managing the Ashby Farm and Rockingham Castle Estate, I also manage additional contract farms in Rutland and have contracting work at Ashby. The working area extends to 5,000 acres with a spread of 80 miles.
I have worked for the Co-operative Farms since 1995, previously arable manager for the Estate. Whilst working for the Group I have gained a degree in Agriculture, and completed my BASIS and FACTS qualifications.
