Back in the 18th century, the Earl of Sandwich tried putting some meat between two slices of bread, and changed our lunchtimes forever. Ever since, the great British sandwich has become a bit of a national institution. Which is why we’re so happy to be recognised for our great tasting range of sandwiches.
But that doesn’t mean we’re resting on our laurels. Even something as classic as a sandwich has to move with the times. So we now offer flatbreads, wraps and tortillas, with fillings from around the world, for you to enjoy.
Everyone has their favourites, and here are some of ours and why we love them...
A US classic that’s become popular over here, our version’s made with sweetcure bacon from British farmers, vine-ripened tomatoes, salad leaves and seasoned mayo on malted bread. Chunky, fresh and really delicious.
This low-fat sandwich only has 315 calories, but take a bite and you really wouldn’t think it. Made with basil-coated chicken from British farmers, it’s got loads of flavour. Vine-ripened tomatoes, SunBlush Tomatade paste and basil dressing, along with seasoned mayo, rocket and spinach on sun-dried tomato bread. These great ingredients are why it tastes more like a treat than a healthy lunch.
High in protein, high in flavour and low in calories – what more could you want? A soft tortilla is filled with lime and coriander marinated British chicken, then spiced up with piquillo peppers, tomato salsa and chipotle chilli chutney. And we’ve also managed to squeeze in some smoky beans, yellow pepper, spinach, soured cream, soft cheese and red onion. Even we’re not sure how we cram all that in for just 255 calories.
A British favourite with a twist: we take Wensleydale cheese and team it with sweet caramelised carrot chutney, soft cheese and lettuce. Then we sandwich the lot between slices of malted bread. A delicious choice for when you’re extra hungry.
British chicken breast with smoky British sweetcure bacon and lettuce, dressed with a garlic and herb ranch sauce in a soft white roll. Filling, delicious and one you’ll come back to again and again.
We’re really proud of our double-smoked salmon from Inverlochy. It comes from a family-run business in Great Glen, nestling at the foot of Ben Nevis. They smoke the salmon twice on oak and beechwood chips for a delicious, old-fashioned flavour. Teamed with free-range egg, dill mayo and spinach on brown multiseed bread, this is a real lunchtime treat at a great-value price.
Time for an all-American classic – peppered pastrami, Monterey Jack cheese and sauerkraut on rye bread. It’s a favourite in New York delis, and we can see why - it’s totally delicious. Teamed with vine-ripened tomatoes, mustard mayo, gherkins and lettuce, it’s a great weekend lunch if you’re out and about.
